About Me

Capturing Love Through Art on the Beautiful Island of Maui

I'm Ariel Quiroz, a professional live wedding painter and portrait artist based here in breathtaking Maui. Since 1995, art has been my life's passion and purpose. Growing up in Chile under challenging circumstances, I found solace and joy in creating art from a young age. This journey led me to earn multiple degrees in Visual Arts and Education, all of which have shaped my technical skills and artistic expression.

Specializing in live wedding paintings and commissioned portraits, I blend realism with impressionism and expressionism to capture not just how moments look, but how they feel. Every brushstroke is infused with emotion and energy, creating a piece that is as unique as your story.

Capture Timeless Moments with a Personalized Oil Painting

Whether it's a cherished family moment, an engagement photo, a beloved pet, or a special individual, a commissioned oil portrait is a timeless piece of art that you'll treasure forever. Using the finest oil paints on high-quality canvas, I create portraits that capture the essence and personality of my subjects.

Commissioned Portraits Pricing

The cost of your portrait is primarily determined by the canvas size, offering you the flexibility to choose a larger canvas than the minimum recommended, regardless of the number of subjects (people or pets).

For a Single Portrait, prices start at $400 for an 8"x10" canvas. You can opt for any larger size—up to 48"x60" or even bigger—if you desire a more prominent piece. Larger canvases allow for added detail and greater visual impact.

Similarly, for Couple Portraits (2 people), the minimum canvas size is 12"x16", priced at $700. However, you’re welcome to select a larger size to enhance the level of detail or make a bold statement.

As the number of subjects increases, so does the minimum canvas size to ensure each individual is beautifully represented. For example:

  • Three subjects start at $1,100 for a 16"x20" canvas.

  • Four subjects start at $1,500 for an 18"x24" canvas.

  • Five subjects start at $1,700 for a 20"x24" canvas.

  • For six or more subjects, prices begin at $1,900 for a 24"x24" canvas, with larger sizes available up to 48"x60", priced at $8,500.

You’re not limited by the number of subjects when selecting your canvas size. Whether you envision a single portrait on a grand scale or a more intimate family piece, the choice is entirely yours. The price adjusts according to the canvas size, allowing you to create a custom artwork that perfectly matches your vision and space.

This flexibility ensures that your portrait is tailored to your preferences, giving you a timeless work of art to cherish for years to come.

Notes:

  • Medium: All portraits are meticulously created using oil paints on high-quality canvas.

  • Price Determination: Prices are based on the size of the canvas, not the number of subjects. Larger canvases allow for more detail and a more impactful presence.

  • Canvas Size and Subjects: The minimum canvas size listed ensures that each subject is adequately represented in the painting.

  • Flexible Options: You can choose a larger canvas size for fewer subjects if you desire a more detailed or expansive background.

  • Custom Sizes: If you have a specific canvas size or idea in mind that's not listed, please let me know, and I can provide a custom quote.

  • Pets and Special Elements: Feel free to include pets or meaningful objects in your portrait at no additional cost, as long as they fit within the chosen canvas size.

Kind Words from Happy Couples

Annie Borges, Bride

Most fun vendor ever!!

"I had an amazing experience hiring Ariel as a vendor for my wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House! We booked him to draw caricatures of our guests during the cocktail hour and into the reception, and it turned out to be one of the most fun and memorable aspects of our wedding. Everyone loved it! Ariel is not only incredibly talented but also very friendly and personable. Every guest who got a caricature done by him thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He made it fun and engaging, working tirelessly to create drawings for everyone who wanted one. Every time I glanced over, his hands seemed to be moving a million miles a minute!

A special touch Ariel included in our package was a caricature of my husband and me, which he completed ahead of time. He printed it on the back of all the paper used for guests' drawings and displayed it on an easel as part of his station setup. He genuinely took an interest in our story and collaborated with us to portray our caricatures as a stereotypical American and Australian, highlighting our immigration story. It turned out so cute and funny and made for a wonderful memento that we'll cherish forever.

Our guests also appreciated their drawings as keepsakes from the wedding. We saw many pictures of the caricatures posted on social media, and none were left behind, unlike many of our other favors.

Overall, I cannot recommend hiring Ariel for your next event enough! The service he provided was exceptional, his pricing was fair, and he played a critical role in making our wedding a unique and memorable experience for all our guests.

Thank you again, Ariel, for being part of our special day and for sharing your talent with our group!"

Suzie Basile, Bride

"Ariel was great to work with. He was so nice! Also, he captured us perfectly! It was such a fast turnaround, and the painting came quick!"

Danielle Davies, Bride

"We hired Ariel as our live painter for our Wedding Day, and we are SO glad we did! Not only is Ariel insanely talented, but he is truly such a kind, lovely person and takes so much pride in his work! He went out of his way to meet with us beforehand on location and get photos to perfect the images. Everyone was raving about him at the Wedding. It was such a highlight for our guests, and now we have the most beautiful painting of our first dance that we will cherish forever!!! Thank you so much, Ariel, you're the best!"

Carrie Lyn Williams, Bride

"Hiring you was the best decision ever! We are absolutely thrilled to have this painting hanging in our living room. We relive this moment every time we enter our home. It's a show-stopper! People are constantly fawning over your beautiful work of art @arielquirozart. You truly are talented! We are forever grateful you captured this moment in time for us to cherish daily."

Nour El Hoda Seleem, Bride

"This was amazing! We wanted to commission a painting from Ariel with me and my fiancé, and he drew a beautifully colorful painting as our welcome sign for our wedding. Our guests loved the caricatures, and it was such a fun addition to our wedding. Ariel is gracious, friendly, and his work is worth every single penny. Couldn’t recommend him enough!"

Jordan and Sarah, Groom and Bride

"Thank you for providing such a unique experience for our wedding! Your art piece will be something we treasure forever!"

Rachel, Bride

"Fantastic experience. Would definitely recommend working with Ariel for live wedding paintings!

We had such a good experience working with Ariel and having him as part of our wedding day. Ariel did a live wedding painting with studio touch-ups. Before the wedding, we had multiple phone calls with Ariel to discuss what we were looking for in the painting. This was super helpful because it allowed us to give him an idea of what we wanted, rather than him just painting a scene from the day. It made us feel really good, and I think it's amazing that he prioritizes his client's wants and takes the time to speak with them about what they are looking for. We gave him a rough idea of the scene we wanted to be painted and then gave him the artistic freedom to do what he does best. He did not disappoint! Having him paint live at the wedding was also incredible! All of our guests loved it, and it was so cool watching him paint the scene live. I really would recommend a live wedding painting to everyone, and most important, would recommend Ariel. He was very professional and made the process personal by involving us as a couple. Our painting came out amazing as well! He was quick and responsive and kept us in the loop during every stage of the process."

Ashlyn, Bride

One of the best parts of our wedding

"After seeing a friend's wedding painting at her house, I googled live artists in Maui and am SO glad that led me to Ariel. He was so easy to work with from start to finish, has such a great attitude, and is so extremely talented. Our painting is everything we could have dreamed of and more, and he was so quick to get it to us after completion. SO many of our guests commented on how it was such a good idea to have done. You will not regret it!"

Ellen, Mother of the Groom

"Ariel did such an amazing job capturing everything about that glorious day! I will always look at the painting and be transported back."

Zach, Groom

"When my fiancé suggested we add a live portrait artist, I didn’t know what to expect. It wasn’t until the day of the wedding, waiting for her to arrive, that I began to appreciate what we were getting. Ariel was set up, painting the surroundings and interacting with our guests. It was exciting to watch him work. Then once we received the finished piece of art, I was speechless. It is beyond what I would have imagined."

Debbie, Bride

"Words cannot express how thrilled I am to have a work of art hanging in our home to keep the love and joy of our wedding day alive. When we made the decision to have Ariel do a live portrait of our ceremony, I never imagined it would be so amazing. Not only did it capture the beauty of the day, but his artistic approach also added details (like our three kitties) that we never would have known to ask for. Our guests loved interacting with Ariel and watching him in action. He was full of happiness, which we feel every day when we look at our painting. Mahalo Nui Loa!"
